ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A rail line between the New Hampshire communities of Ossipee and Rochester is getting $1.4 million for repairs and upgrades.

Last year, New Hampshire’s congressional delegation urged the U.S. Department of Transportation to support a grant application for the New Hampshire Northcoast Railroad Project, which will allow the railroad to expand its freight service on the line and operate it more efficiently.

Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, who announced the grant Thursday, said the line connects to the national freight rail network via Boston and is a vital transportation link for New Hampshire.
