OBERLIN, La. (AP) - An Oct. 20 trial date has been set for an Oberlin woman accused in the March stabbing death of a 59-year-old man who was killed and his home set on fire.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) 31-year-old Ebony Ackless pleaded not guilty June 11 to second-degree murder in the slaying of Freddie Lee Green, also of Oberlin.

Ackless, who remains in the Allen Parish jail, was indicted in May.

Authorities say Green died of multiple stab wounds to the neck and head before his mobile home was set on fire.

Sheriff Doug Hebert III said the slaying appeared to be the result of a drug deal gone wrong.
