FERNDALE, Mich. (AP) - The Woodward Dream Cruise is back for its 20th installment.

The annual celebration of classic car culture officially kicked off Saturday. It ran through a number of Oakland County communities along the route.

The cruise drew tens of thousands of classic and vintage cars.

There were more than 1,000 Mustangs alone along Mustang Alley in Ferndale.

Event volunteer Barb LeMaigre, who has a 1968 red Mustang, started the day at 3:30 a.m. preparing for the arrivals of the cars that comprised Mustang Alley.

She tells the Detroit Free Press the Dream Cruise represents “a great opportunity to be a Ford ambassador.”

Yonathan Golomt and Tom Alpa took in their first cruise. The Detroit News reports the 14-year-olds from Israel got a chance to sit in their first Chevy Corvette convertible.
