FLINT, Mich. (AP) - An annual event celebrating Flint’s automotive heritage is underway.

The Back to the Bricks car show’s opening ceremony took place Saturday.

Back to the Bricks started in 2005, and it has grown over the years.

Founder and board chairman Al Hatch tells The Flint Journal (https://bit.ly/1t7M4kv ) Back to the Bricks started as a one-day event with about 600 cars.

He says that “obviously, that has been long surpassed.”

Back to the Bricks now lasts two weeks and features events that happen throughout Genesee County in addition to a promotional tour that takes drivers out of the state.
