ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A black bear visited a lodge in Aspen three times this week, including one appearance when it entered the front door, ate food from two refrigerators and stayed for about 45 minutes until a police officer with a beanbag gun chased it out.

The Aspen Times reports (https://bit.ly/1kJZ7cr ) the bear entered an open door of the Snow Queen Victorian Lodge early Wednesday morning and ransacked the kitchen, finding milk, half-and-half cream, ice cream and breakfast rolls.

The lodge’s manager says the bear wandered back Thursday and Friday, grunting outside the property. But it has avoided a trap set up by police.

Bears are eating voraciously right now as they prepare for hibernation.
