COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Volunteers are fanning out in and around Columbia to help clean up some of the area’s roadways.

On Saturday, volunteers from Keep the Midlands Beautiful are picking up litter from roads in Lexington and Richland counties. They’ll also be cleaning up some places in the City of Columbia. Organizers warn drivers to slow down if they see crews along the side of the road.

The efforts are part of the Adopt-A-Highway and Adopt-A-Street Cleanup. If it rains on Saturday, the cleanup will be postponed until August 23.
