CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Officials on Monday will announce the winner of a contest to become the first Wyoming resident to buy a lottery ticket in the state.

The state will begin selling Powerball and Mega Millions tickets on Aug. 24.

Gov. Matt Mead and Secretary of State Max Maxfield will join lottery officials in announcing the winner among those who entered the promotional effort for the lottery.

The grand prize winner will receive a new car along with the right to buy the first lottery ticket at the ticket outlet of his or her choice.

After the first ticket is sold at noon on Aug. 24, the rest of the approved ticket outlets will begin selling tickets.
