FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Authorities say no adults were home during a North Texas house fire that left a 9-year-old boy dead and three relatives and a neighbor hurt.

Fort Worth Fire Department investigators are trying to determine what started the blaze but said Friday that the most probable cause was “unintentional.” Officials didn’t elaborate.

Firefighters on Thursday afternoon found David Ramirez in a hallway. He was transported to a hospital and declared dead. A coroner listed the cause of death as smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation.

Three male relatives - ages 14, 2 and 5 - escaped on their own and were treated for smoke inhalation. A neighbor who tried to rescue the 9-year-old boy was also treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials haven’t said how the boys are related.
