COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A 34-year-old woman accused of plotting to kill her stepfather southeast of Colorado Springs has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

The Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1vUSiJQ ) Dawn Richburg pleaded guilty Friday to her role in the February 2013 death of Miguel “Mike” Barajas. She faces up to 45 years in prison when she is sentenced Oct. 20.

Barajas was found shot to death in the bedroom of his Security-Widefield home after an apparent break-in, which was later determined to have been staged. Investigators say the plot was hatched by Richburg, her mother and a male acquaintance named Tommy Wright, who later acknowledged pulling the trigger.

Richburg called to report a burglary at the home.
