HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Matt Saucier has been appointed assistant chief of the Hattiesburg Fire Department.

The Hattiesburg American reports (https://hatne.ws/VhbaSH ) Saucier joined the department in 1995 and has served as a firefighter, driver, engineer, lieutenant and captain.

Chief Paul Presley says the 40-year-old Saucier had overseen four stations on the city’s east side as captain and been an active training officer.

His duties as assistant chief will include supervision of the department budget, fire prevention and the training academy.
