CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the drowning of an 8-year-old boy in a swimming pool.

Multiple media outlets reported that emergency crews were called to an apartment complex around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Police said three children climbed the fence surrounding the pool. The 8-year-old had trouble swimming in the deep end.

Medics took the boy to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Investigators are talking with the property manager as well as the pool management company. There is no indication of foul play.
