MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A conservative group has revoked its endorsement of a Republican legislative candidate.

Wisconsin Family Action’s political action committee released a statement Monday saying it had revoked its endorsement of Ashton Kirsch in south-central Wisconsin’s 81st Assembly District.

The statement said the committee has decided Kirsch’s views on marriage differ too much from WFA’s beliefs. The group’s director, Julaine Appling, declined to elaborate in an interview but pointed to a paragraph in the statement that says WFA believes in one-man, one-woman marriage. She declined to comment if that meant Kirsch supports gay marriage.

The contact page on Kirsch’s website wasn’t functioning Monday and no one immediately responded to a message left on his Facebook page. A message left with the state Republican Party seeking a listing for him wasn’t immediately returned.
