ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say that two men abandoned a vehicle they stole in northern New Jersey after realizing a child was still inside.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1AsOa2D) that a man was loading his car in Elizabeth on Saturday morning when the men got inside and sped away with a child in tow.

Elizabeth Police Capt. William Pinho says that they drove four blocks before realizing the car was occupied by a child. He says they left the car and fled.

Pinho says the child is not hurt and the car was been returned to its owner.

He says police had only a very limited description of the suspects.
