PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The longtime director of South Dakota’s Driver Licensing Program is leaving for a federal job.

Cindy Gerber has spent the past 17 years as head of the state’s driver’s licensing services. Public Safety Secretary Trevor Jones says Gerber is leaving to take a position with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Her final day with the state is Friday. Gerber says she’s looking forward to new challenges after a total of 23 years with the Driver Licensing Program.
