MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery city officials are planning to recognize three teens who found an abandoned baby in front of a church and called for help.

Police have said an unattended baby was found sitting in a car seat on Aug. 7 and charges were later filed against the parents. The baby wasn’t injured.

WAKA-TV reports ( ) Kenterious Singleton, Deonta Martin and Darious Johnson were on their way to a gymnasium but stopped when they heard the baby crying. The three are scheduled to be recognized during a Tuesday council meeting.

Martin says they waited for about 10 minutes for the child’s parents to arrive and went to a nearby school to ask for help.

City Councilman Davis Burkette says he’s proud of the boys’ quick thinking.
