CARIBOU, Maine (AP) - A health center in Caribou is getting a $250,000 grant from the federal government to support mental health services.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says the $250,000 grant for Pines Health Services in Caribou will help more than 600 Maine residents.

The federal government is awarding more than $54 million in grants to 221 health centers across the country through the Affordable Care Act. The department says the funds will help the centers hire new mental health professionals and implement new services.

Secretary Sylvia Matthews Burwell says the money will break down barriers that can prevent residents from getting help for mental health problems.
