SANDY, Utah (AP) - Former NFL great Brett Favre stopped by a high school football practice in a Salt Lake City suburb this week to sign autographs, take pictures and giving a speech to the team.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1uXxCiU ) Favre told the Alta High School players in Sandy, Utah to have fun and remember that their playing days will be over before they know it.

He mentioned that he is close friends with Ty Detmer, a former teammate with the Green Bay Packers who starred for Brigham Young University.

Favre sported a full gray beard as he threw passes to fans as the team practiced and stopped to pose for photos and give autographs.

He was in Salt Lake City to represent a pharmaceutical company that makes Rx Pro, a pain relief cream.
