TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - The Cherokee Nation and Northeastern State University’s College of Liberal Arts will hold a symposium next week to mark the 175th anniversary of the Cherokee Constitution.
The event will feature a keynote speech by Miriam Jorgensen. Jorgensen is an author, teacher, researcher and scholar. A morning panel will discuss the history of the 1839 Constitution, while an afternoon panel will examine contemporary tribal constitutions.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 28.
