SEATTLE (AP) - King County prosecutors have filed a second-degree murder charge against a 38-year-old transient accused of fatally stabbing a sleeping stranger in a suburban fast-food restaurant.
Prosecutors’ spokesman Dan Donohoe said Steven Padilla is accused of walking up to the 65-year-old victim and stabbing him Sunday at a Burger King in Bellevue. Jose Arias died from his injuries.
Prosecutors say Padilla ran from the restaurant but was arrested a short time later by Bellevue police. He’s held on $1 million bail with arraignment set for Sept. 3.
