PLOVER, Wis. (AP) - A man accused of attacking a central Wisconsin police officer with a knife before he was shot is due back in court next month.

A Portage County court commissioner has set bond at $100,000 cash for Brett Lieberman.

Plover police say Officer Andrew Hopfensperger pulled Lieberman over Aug. 8 after seeing him driving erratically on Highway 54. Authorities say Lieberman stopped his car, jumped out and came after the officer with a knife. Police say Hopfensperger shot Lieberman multiple times.

The 33-year-old Manawa man is due back in court Sept. 2. He’s charged with attempted first-degree homicide.
