INEZ, Ky. (AP) - Officials say two women and a young girl found in the ruins of an eastern Kentucky house fire were killed before the blaze was set.

Media reported that officials with the Martin County coroner’s office say preliminary autopsy results show all three were shot and stabbed.

Firefighters were called to the blaze near Inez early Saturday, and they found the bodies of 46-year-old Cainie Johnson Jr., 42-year-old Tina Yvonne Goble, and her granddaughter, 8-year-old Trinity Janae Maynard.

Two people have been arrested and charged with murder and robbery in the deaths: 26-year-old Amanda Bowen and 41-year-old Jack D. Smith, both of Inez. It wasn’t clear whether they have attorneys.

Police said in an arrest warrant that the two took items from the home including medication and jewelry.

Timothy Goble, whose mother and daughter were killed, told WKYT-TV that he is trying to stay focused on their lives.

“They would want us to not focus on all this bad, they’d want us to focus on all the memories and good times we had,” Goble said.

“It is a very sad situation, before even any of this came to light. Now that it has come to light and we know a possible motive might have been to rob the place…it does make you angry. However, like I said my daughter wouldn’t want us to be angry right now.”

Police are continuing their investigation.
