PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia university says it is investigating a reported attack on a student that allegedly included what the school called “religious slurs.”

Temple University said in a statement that Wednesday afternoon’s confrontation on the school’s main campus in north Philadelphia “is alleged to have included physical violence and anti-Semitic statements and religious slurs.”

Officials said one male student was alleged to have struck another during an argument at the table of the Temple chapter of the Students for Justice in Palestine. The incident occurred as students were moving into the dorms for the school’s fall term. The student was later treated at an area hospital and released.

University officials said they had “reached out to leaders of the Temple Jewish and pro-Palestinian communities” seeking “a best path for moving forward.”
