CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Two groups in West Virginia will receive $1.4 million from the U.S. Justice Department for crime-fighting efforts.

The state Division of Justice and Community Services will use $1.3 million toward efforts to combat violent crime and substance abuse.

The city of Charleston will receive $136,000 to buy safety equipment for law enforcement.

The funding was announced Wednesday by Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Congressman Nick Rahall.
