PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Cumberland Little League team is being welcomed home.

WLNE-TV reports that the team is scheduled to return around 5 p.m. Friday from South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The team was eliminated from the Little League World Series after an 8-7 loss to Chicago on Monday night.

State Police will escort the bus. Once in Cumberland, local police will bring the returning players to Diamond Hill Park for a celebration.

Coach David Belisle told the players after the loss that they were one of the best teams in the world and they had their hometown and the state of Rhode Island jumping with excitement. His inspiring speech went viral.
