DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Public Works crews and contractors are running behind schedule for picking up residents’ discarded bulk items after massive flooding in the area last week.

The city said Thursday the large volume of flood-damaged items has delayed pickups by one or two days. It’s asking residents to leave their items at the curb until crews can pick them up.

Public Works director Rob Brundidge says residents won’t be ticketed for leaving their items there.

The city says residents whose bulk collection day has passed can still call the city to request a special pickup.
