BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A woman who headed the Bennington chapter of the Disabled American Veterans has been named the commander for the state of Vermont, the state’s first female commander in over 50 years.

The Bennington Banner reports (https://bit.ly/Jea059) Lisa Sloan first joined the Bennington chapter in 2006. She served as commander from 2011-2012.

The state commander is elected every year with a two-term limit.
