GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Deputies have released more information about the arrest of a man at a Greenville Wal-Mart that was captured on video.

Several videos posted to the Internet appear to show officers punching the man several times after he was shocked with a Taser on Saturday afternoon.

Master Deputy Jonathan Smith said in a news release Sunday that Wal-Mart surveillance cameras show officers spent nearly 30 minutes trying to subdue and arrest the man.

Smith says Sandon Matthew Sierad was acting erratically, saying “I’m 911,” trying to steal a cash box and trying to take a knife from one officer. Sierad faces charges including assault and battery. Court records listed no attorney for him.

Smith has said one deputy has been placed on leave during an internal investigation.
