LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say the death of a 13-year-old hit and killed by a freight train in Loveland was a suspected suicide.

The BNSF train hit the boy just before 11 p.m. Friday. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office has ruled his death a suicide and is not naming him because of his age.

The (Loveland) Reporter-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1ssArEd ) that the boy’s teachers and fellow students at Lucile Erwin Middle School have been informed and that counselors were on hand Monday.

The train was traveling from Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Denver.
