TUMWATER, Wash. (AP) - Well water is being tested at seven Tumwater, Washington, homes after a diesel spill contaminated about 1,000 square yards of land.

KOMO-TV reports (https://is.gd/gmSAaO ) that Tacoma Rail says “malicious mischief” was involved when a locomotive hauling freight hit some sort of obstruction on the tracks on Aug. 16. The fuel tank was punctured and 1,700 gallons of diesel leaked out.

The Thurston County Public Health Department is conducting the testing. No word yet on whether any diesel has been detected.
