PATTERSON, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says four people died when the driver of the car they were in lost control and struck a steel power pole on a Central Valley road.

The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Monday in Patterson, a city near Modesto.

CHP Officer Eric Parsons tells the Modesto Bee (https://bit.ly/1ry0oq1 ) the Lexus was seen speeding before the crash. Two females in the back seat and two males in the front died at the scene.

The victims’ identities were not released.
