MILLBROOK, Ala. (AP) - A body found in a wooded area of Elmore County has been identified as a missing woman whose son has been charged in her death.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson says an autopsy has identified 49-year-old Anita Washington, who was reported missing last week. Her son, Sedrick Clayton, has been charged in her death and is being held on $250,000 bond.

Authorities say the woman’s body was found wrapped in a sheet and Clayton was charged based on forensic evidence that was found at Washington’s house.

Police have said relatives told investigators that the relationship between Clayton and Washington had become strained recently. Washington’s ex-husband is also serving a 20-year prison sentence for shooting her in a school parking lot in 2008.
