BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A Cahokia man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for kidnapping a man in East St. Louis.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1tCSrxe) U.S. Chief District Court Judge David Herndon sentenced 27-year-old Antwon D. Jenkins on Friday for kidnapping and using a firearm during a kidnapping.

Trial evidence showed Jenkins lured a young man to his East St. Louis home on July 17, 2012, attacked him and accused him of burglarizing another of Jenkins’ homes.

Jenkins drove the man into Missouri. During the drive, he pulled over on Interstate 44 and threatened the man at gunpoint. He told the victim to get out of the truck so he could shoot him. The victim ran into nearby woods and escaped.

Jenkins was arrested several days later.
