POWELL, Wyo. (AP) - Powell police say a driver led them on a high-speed chase after allegedly stealing two vehicles and firing shots into three others.

The Powell Tribune reported Tuesday (https://tinyurl.com/mu5yuzw ) 25-year-old Israel Silva of Lovell was arrested after the pursuit Sunday and was awaiting charges.

Online jail records didn’t indicate whether he had an attorney. No listed phone number could be found for him.

Powell Police Chief Roy Eckerdt says an officer was investigating an abandoned stolen vehicle when he heard shots and spotted a stolen pickup driving away. Eckerdt says the officer pursued but backed off when speeds became unsafe. He says the pickup exceeded 100 mph.

Silva was arrested after the pickup got stuck in mud.

Police say they found gunshot damage to three other vehicles. No injuries were reported.
