BEVERLY, Mass. (AP) - A Beverly man is held without bail after pleading not guilty to possessing gasoline-filled Molotov cocktails in his car.

Twenty-three-year-old Stefan Jovic was arraigned Tuesday on 25 counts of possessing incendiary devices. Jovic’s lawyer asked for a competency hearing for his client, who he said was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The Salem News reports (https://bit.ly/1mP82F3) Jovic was hospitalized in Boston for psychiatric treatment when a hospital security official told Beverly police Aug. 13 Jovic had expressed “homicidal tendencies” and told hospital staff about potentially explosive materials in his car in Beverly.

A prosecutor said Tuesday that emergency officials found Mason jars filled with gasoline, oil and a solid substance along with cloth that could be lit for a wick. He said about 18 gallons of gasoline were found in other containers in the car.
