AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A 13-year-old boy was in serious condition after his leg was severed in a crash on a northeast Ohio street that killed the speeding motorcyclist who ran into the boy’s bicycle.

Shawn Brumbaugh Jr.’s mother, Crystal Harris, tells the Akron Beacon Journal (https://bit.ly/1ww96Y0 ) that the teen had another surgery Monday to remove more of the leg above the knee.

Authorities say his leg was instantly severed Saturday night when he was struck by the speeding motorcycle operated by 29-year-old Eric Reppl, who was ejected and slid under a moving car. He died later at a hospital.

An Akron police officer said he saw two speeding motorcycles doing wheelies minutes before they crossed paths with Brumbaugh and another teen on bicycles.

The second motorcyclist fled and hasn’t been located.
