LAS VEGAS (AP) - A retrial was pushed back to Sept. 8 for a 25-year-old man accused of firing a gun backstage while trying to steal costumes and props from members of the “Thunder From Down Under” male revue at a Las Vegas Strip resort.

Joey Kadmiri’s defense attorney, Joshua Tomsheck, said Tuesday that a Sept. 2 hearing is set to determine whether a jury can hear Kadmiri’s statement to authorities following his March 18 arrest at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.

Authorities say well-muscled members of the Australia-themed show restrained Kadmiri until police arrived after he fired one shot that lodged in a wall and narrowly missed the face one male dancer.

Kadmiri has pleaded not guilty to burglary, robbery, battery and weapon charges.

He could face decades in prison if he’s convicted.
