TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A judge has denied motion to move the trial of a man accused of drunken driving resulting in the death of a Tupelo woman on her morning walk outside of Lee County.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1qvs0Jy ) 28-year-old John Gillentine of Tupelo is charged him of driving a pickup on Aug. 1, 2013, and hitting Elizabeth “Betty” Montgomery.

Gillentine pleaded not guilty to a DUI death charge in March. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison. He is scheduled for trial Oct. 27 in Tupelo.

Authorities say the 62-year-old Montgomery was hit by a vehicle around 5:40 a.m. while walking with a friend. She died the same day at North Mississippi Medical Center. The other person wasn’t injured.
