ATLANTA (AP) - U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan plans to visit Georgia next month.

Duncan’s stops in Atlanta and Carrollton on Sept. 8 were announced Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Education. The events are part of a swing through three southern states - Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee - on a back-to-school bus tour.

Duncan says he hopes to see innovation at work and discuss educational progress and results.

The tour started in 2010 and has since been held each fall in different regions of the country.
