LAGUNA, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say part of Interstate 40 in Laguna has been shut down due to a fatal crash involving two semi trucks.

New Mexico State Police say both trucks crashed around midnight Wednesday, killing a 59-year-old man at the scene. He is believed to be the driver of one truck.

Police say a driver and passenger from one semi were treated and released from a hospital with minor injuries.

They say both vehicles were in eastbound lanes. Heavy rain and speed may have been factors.

The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities have closed eastbound I-40 between Laguna and Mesita and drivers should expect delays.
