CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) - A man in northern Iowa has been arrested after authorities say he made threatening statements against school children.

Acting Floyd County Attorney William Baresel said in a news release Wednesday that Loren Saxon was arrested Sunday. He faces charges of terroristic threats and public intoxication. Court records do not list an attorney.

Police reports say Saxon was heavily intoxicated while at a Best Budget Inn in Charles City. He is accused of making threatening statements against school children, but officials did not elaborate.

The Floyd County Attorney’s Office says Saxon remains at the county jail.
