NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The District Attorney’s office in New Orleans says a 19-year-old has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with a 2012 death.

Glenn Metz entered the plea Tuesday morning as opening statements were set to begin at his trial. Under his plea agreement, he received the maximum 40-year sentence.

The victim in the March 12, 2012, shooting was identified as Jamal Christian. The District Attorney’s news release said witnesses indicated that Metz disliked Christian because they were from different New Orleans neighborhoods.
