PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix police officer has resigned after he was caught allegedly shoplifting at a Hobby Lobby crafts store.
KPHO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1zEobTI) that Sgt. Mike Gurry resigned Tuesday afternoon after workers say he tried to steal goods at the store in north Phoenix.
Gurry is a 29-year veteran of the department and worked as a community action officer at the Black Mountain Precinct.
They say he was cited for shoplifting but released.
Authorities did not say what he is accused of stealing.
Officials say Gurry is eligible still to collect his pension.
