PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Prescott-area man reporting missing last week has been found dead.

Prescott police say the body of 49-year-old Terry Perna was discovered Wednesday afternoon about a quarter mile from where his new car was parked.

They say the body was found by Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department bloodhounds about 50 yards north of Willow Lake Road next to a pile of rocks.

Police say it’s unclear how long the body had been at that location and it showed no signs of trauma.

The county medical examiner took possession of Perna’s body for an autopsy to try to determine the cause of death.

Perna lived near Willow Lake and was last seen at his home on Aug. 20. His friends say he suffered from physical health problems and mental illness.
