MOORPARK, Calif. (AP) - A Ventura County woman has told authorities she made up a story about being held against her will and sexually assaulted in April.

Moorpark police said Tuesday that detectives working with sheriff’s investigators spent numerous hours investigating the alleged incident.

The woman, a Moorpark resident, originally reported she came home April 16 and found burglars there. She said they held her against her will and assaulted her.

Investigators said they found discrepancies between the woman’s story and the evidence collected.

The Ventura County Star reports (https://bit.ly/1qwnwm0 ) police did not say whether she will face charges.
