BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Former Bismarck High and University of North Dakota standout wide receiver Weston Dressler has re-signed with the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Roughriders released Dressler early this year to give him the opportunity to sign with an NFL team, but it didn’t work out. The Kansas City Chiefs released Dressler on Monday.

Dressler has played six seasons with the Roughriders, topping the 1,000-yard receiving mark five times and being named a CFL All-Star twice. He also was the CFL’s rookie of the year in 2008 and won a Grey Cup championship with the team last year.

Dressler is third in franchise history with 442 receptions and 6,536 yards.

Terms of his latest contract with the team were not released.
