ALBERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Flint family is mourning the death of a 9-year-old boy who drowned in a lake.

WPBM-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1s6XEPD ) Monday that J.J. Lawson died Friday at Little Wolf Lake in Montmorency County’s Albert Township. It’s near the unincorporated village of Lewiston in the northern Lower Peninsula.

Montmorency County Sheriff Don Edwards says Lawson’s family was camping at the lake and he and his sister were playing in the water. He says a lifeguard wasn’t on duty but adults were supervising.

Edwards says Lawson was found face-down in the water. He was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead that night.

His family is accepting donations to help with funeral costs.
