ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Police say they’ve removed a man’s body from the Genesee River in Rochester after it was spotted by fishermen.

Officials tell local media that two men fishing along the riverbank in the city’s Charlotte (shahr-LAHT’) section reported seeing a body Wednesday morning near Turning Point Park.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to identify the man and the cause of death.

It wasn’t immediately known if the man was the same one who reportedly went missing in the river while walking alongside the waterway Monday afternoon. Emergency officials say the 27-year-old man apparently was trying to get close to the river’s Lower Falls when he fell in.

Police and fire department rescue teams searched the river Monday and Tuesday without locating him.
