DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Duke and athletic director Kevin White have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at the school through the 2020-21 academic year.

President Richard Brodhead announced the extension Wednesday. Terms were not disclosed, as is customary at the private school.

Brodhead says Duke “is fortunate to have an athletic director of the caliber” of White.

Since the 63-year-old White came to Duke from Notre Dame in 2008, the school has claimed six NCAA championships and 17 Atlantic Coast Conference titles.

The Blue Devils finished 11th this past year in the Director’s Cup standings - which measure a school’s all-around strength in sports.

White calls it “an absolute honor” to remain at Duke.
