FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities have identified the victims and alleged shooter they say were involved in a murder-suicide at a home north of Fayetteville.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office tells local media outlets 22-year-old Gerald Patrick Marr of Spring Lake shot and killed 14-year-old Zachary Phillips and his mother, 31-year-old Diana Maria Hathaway, at a home in the Eureka Springs community.

Hathaway’s 15-year-old daughter, Kelsey Phillips, was shot in the shoulder and is recovering from surgery.

The sheriff’s office says Hathaway, her children and 17-year-old Billy Paul Setzer Jr. were in the driveway when Marr approached the vehicle around 6:30 p.m. and began shooting. Setzer was not hurt.

The sheriff’s office said Marr then shot and killed himself. Authorities are still investigating his connection to the family.
