ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A St. Charles County judge has frozen the assets of woman embroiled in a legal dispute with her murdered friend’s daughters.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Faria of Lincoln County was stabbed to death at home in 2011, days after changing her life insurance beneficiary from her husband to Pamela Hupp.

Russell Faria was convicted of first-degree murder in his wife’s death and sentenced to life in prison without parole. He is appealing the conviction.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (bit.ly/1pe7rRM ) reports that St. Charles Circuit Court Judge Daniel Pelikan on Monday issued a temporary restraining order on the insurance proceeds pending a hearing later this month. Faria’s adult daughters sued Hupp in April, alleging that she defrauded them out of the insurance proceeds.
